I first heard this album in 1986. The father of a friend of mine bought the CD (wow, he owned a CD player - he was in the minority in the mid eighties!) The intro of the opening track had me hooked immediately. I never owned the album myself until now. I thought I'd download it but it's not to be found on any blogspots so I actually purchased it legitimately
And now I'm sharing it to help out anyone who might be looking for it too. Sorry Courtney - I'm sure if people like it they'll buy their own copy, right?
It's ripped at 320kbps 'cos anything less is for people who simply don't know any better

Journey To The Urge Within, earnestly annotated by the saxophonist himself and over-tense in its desire to cover as many bases as possible, is not a great record. But it is an extremely arresting document of what hes trying to do. Pines own tunes predominate and they are, not surprisingly, a trifle callow and tricksy, aching with a desperate invention but why of the simplicity that makes for great writing (Wayne, frinstance). Too many themes, like on the opening cut Miss-interpret, kick time around like a ball on a string, the ball always bouncing back to base, but remaining murderously difficult to control and improvise with. Often the rhythm-section spills into raggedness as a consequence (though it is worth noting that Mis-interpret Pines soprano harries Ray Carlesss baritone with an alarming, wildly exciting dogged-ness on the fade-out perhaps the albums one moment of real inspiration).
